I fell in love...

This exhibition is a triptych, a tapestry of light.  Each piece is comprised of 20 colour RC prints mounted on foam core.  With this exhibition, I break into new territory with my work. The way I feel about and respond to my photographs is changing, which in turn changes the way I present them.  Attracted by the repetition, light and structure within these experiences, I was driven to capture the emotion they generated in me.

By choosing to use simple cameras and to have the prints made in a one-hour lab, I was able to balance the weight of the technical elements with a new understanding of what the essence of photography is for me.  This process emphasizes the accessibility and immediacy of the images.  The manner in which these familiar Canadian views are photographed and presented is intended to generate a physical response in the viewer, evoking a collective experience.

By facilitating the re-organization of the images throughout the exhibition (they are adhered to the wall using Velcro), both the viewer and I are able to explore the deconstruction of process and our ever-changing emotional reaction to what we see. This re-assembly and juxtaposition intends to transform the mundane into the sublime, creating something that encourages the viewers to alter their perceptions.
